Walking / Treasure hike 7b: Mittåkläppen

A true classic! The path up to Djupdalsvallen is an adventure in itself. The floral mountain Mittåkläppen attracts botanists from all over Europe, and the views from the summit are breathtaking.

Should you want to add a blue hike – actually we strongly recommend that you do – you can walk to the summit of Mount Mittåkläppen, at an altitude of 1,212 m.

The hike is signposted from Djupdalsvallen; two optional routes to the summit, one easy and one difficult. If you have a tendency for vertigo and/or dizziness, don’t choose the difficult one, for the rest it’s a fun option. When walking back down, make sure to take the easy one!

The views from the summit of
Mount Mittåkläppen are breathtaking. In clear weather you can see peaks in Norway up to 200 km away, as well as Sylarna, Predikstolen, Helags, Hovärken at Lofsdalen, Anåfjället, and Vigelfjällen etc. Bring a map to try to identify the peaks.

Mount Mittåkläppen is also a floral mountain, famous for its richness in species and the large variety of orchids. You can return by the same route to Djupdalsvallen.
